The inaugural SWW AHRC DTP Open Day took place on Wednesday 22nd January 2014.
More than 450 prospective students, academics and partners visited the Arnolfini Gallery in Bristol for an Open Day showcasing the SWW AHRC DTP. Academics from each university and each subject area in the consortium were on hand to discuss student’s research plans and to guide them in focusing their project and shaping a team of supervisors to support it. SWW DTP Partners such as the BBC, National Trust, Watershed, English Heritage, Wiltshire Records Office and Bristol City Council and Mayor’s Office were also in attendance and able to offer help and advice for projects and plans.
Each session began with a welcome and introduction to the SWW DTP (PDF) from the Director, James Clark, and after the introduction from the SWW DTP Director, the Open Day took the form of a ‘Market Place’ with an emphasis on prospective students approaching academics from intended subjects and institutions. The SWW DTP have also produced a Next Steps guide (PDF) which will help you formulate your research proposal.
