Interdisciplinary Research Training

November 18 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

T-shaped writing: controlling the depth of your research into other disciplines that relate to your work, maintaining focus on your subject area, and making progress with your thesis

This session addresses the challenge of research in topics that draw on knowledge, methodologies, and wider discourse on other fields. As PhD-level research in design expands globally, this is an increasingly frequent situation. We will go over a framework for allocating time and effort to areas of research, and some guidelines for fitting in wider research into your core work. The objective of the session is to give you some tools that will help you to stay on track for your completion on time. The session is primarily intended for researchers at the beginning and middle of their trajectory, but should be helpful for all working across disciplines.
