Map making training with Figures in the Landscape cluster
February 11 @ 9:30 am - 1:00 pm
The Figures in the Landscape cluster would like to invite you to a morning of map making training, aimed at those who are new to making maps to visualise data for their thesis. This is peer-to-peer training, run by members of the cluster for any interested SWW DTP students.
When: Monday 11th February 2019, 9:30-1pm
Where: Training room 1, PGR Hub, University of Bristol, Senate House, Tyndall Avenue, Bristol, BS8 1TH.
Booking is essential, please register by 28th January.
This half-day training event will cover the basics that allow you to make simple but effective maps using both Google Maps and Digimap. We will start with looking at where we find new and old maps online and how we can use them. We’ll then move on to adding information to maps, and importing journeys or points from things like hand-held GPS. We will not be covering more complex GIS systems such as ArcGIS or QGIS but will finish by signposting to some next steps, and the cluster is also planning to have a more advanced session later in the year.
The day will start with coffee at 9:30am and finish with lunch at 1pm, with time for a tea break in the middle. It is, of course, free to attend for all SWW DTP students.
Places are limited as it is the first time the Figures in the Landscape cluster have run an event like this.
