Navigating Emotionally Sensitive Research

April 1 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Funded by SWDTP

This day is aimed at equipping researchers with the specific skills needed to research emotionally sensitive and taxing topics.

When researching emotionally sensitive topics such as gang violence, the far right, the Holocaust, and domestic violence, researchers are regularly confronted with intense materials with the associated impact on emotional wellbeing. Currently, there is little training available for these specific issues to help develop researchers’ skills in coping with these problems, despite the prevalence and likelihood of facing them. To fill this gap, we are offering an SWDTP-funded training day where practitioners and experts share their experiences of dealing with a range of ethical issues with the aim to better equip post-graduates researching these topics.

There are a limited number of places available for SWWDTP students.
