Writing Quality Papers

22nd April 2020

Writing Quality Papers.
Our training provider, ThinkWrite, has responded to the COVID-19 situation and developed an online version of this workshop. This version will provide you with the same learning outcomes as the original workshop and also provides follow-up support to further embed the practices it introduces.
The training will involve a ‘flip classroom’ concept, where you will be introduced to key ideas before meeting other participants. You will then apply these ideas working together in online meetings. The workshop has three elements:
  1. A 30-40 minute video that explains core principles
  2. Two 90 minute Zoom sessions, in which you can discuss and apply what you have learned from the video.
  3. Five follow-up emails that are sent out at weekly intervals which will help you to embed what you have learned in workshop in your own work context.
Pete Moore, Founder of ThinkWrite asks:

“If you enrol in this workshop, please do watch the video before the shared sessions. It will be very hard to run the session if you haven’t seen the content”

Aim to succeed: a writing course with a long pedigree of helping academics publish their work.

Getting published is key to academic success. But how do you find the time to write a Quality Paper?

The REF process emphasises the need to get world leading research published in respected journals. After all, if your work isn’t published, no one can use the knowledge you have generated.

The Writing Quality Papers course delivered by ThinkWrite has been run hundreds of times in universities throughout north Europe. The 10-step process helps young researchers get a head start in the process of creating publishable work.

In addition, the analytical approach helps experienced authors refine their focus, and equips them to lead and mentor a writing team made of senior and junior team members. The most frequent comment from people leaving the courses is ‘why did no one tell me this before?’
